Your PRT folder
As a beginning teacher you are required to keep a record of your induction and mentoring program. Unless your school has a system in place already there is no set format for this. You can choose whether to keep electronic records e.g. Google docs, or physical paper copies e.g. in a ring binder. It is your responsibility to keep this record (not your mentor teacher's) and you may be asked to present the information as evidence when applying for full registration.
Ideas for what to include:
- Evidence of your planning, assessment and evaluation of children's learning.
- Reflective journal (notes on how you teaching is going, what you need to improve and your plan for progress).
- A log of conversations with your mentor teacher.
- A log of how you are using your PRT release time.
- Professional development you attended.
- Professional readings you have completed.
- A copy of the practicing teacher criteria.
- Observations others have done of you.
- Observations you have made of other teachers.
