dressing like a teacher
When choosing outfits for teaching you need to keep in mind that like it or not, clothing forms part of a person's first impression. That could be the principal you're about to work for, or the parents in your new class. You want to present yourself as a capable, reliable, professional teacher and a positive role model for the children. First and foremost, you'll need to find out if your school has any clothing guidelines/rules. If you're not sure, go for something on the smarter side and wait to see what your colleagues wear.

Points to think about:
- Choose shoes that are comfortable enough to walk and stand in all day. Probably not high heels. Especially if you have playground duty.
- Low cut tops, short skirts etc. are inappropriate and you also run the risk of showing off more than you intended when bending over desks.
- Guys can't go wrong with a shirt and tie.
- Layers are great for changing temperatures if you're going to be both outside and inside during the day.
- Make sure you have clothes appropriate for the weather e.g. sunhat, raincoat.
- T-shirts, flip flops and jeans are likely too casual, depending on your school.
- Anything white is a risky bet.
- Ditto thin tights.
- Don't be afraid to show a bit of your personality with favourite colours and accessories etc.
